I recently lost my job and I absolutely need psychological counselling after this latest experience (one of so many, and it’s reaching breaking point).
That aside, I have an idea that I thought this effort may be interested in (I don’t have the time to do anything with it, seeing as I have my hands full with recovering from my latest ordeal and securing a new job) and that is to add ‘mandatory HR policies’ into HS Laws for all businesses. I’ve often been asked to fill that gap, because people generally don’t know what to do when there is no HR rep. or when there is a bad one. If business, including small one’s are going to employ people, they should set acceptable boundaries for everyone to follow, including the business leaders. Especially when there are leaders or workers who put their own ‘self interests’ first (as I’ve noticed a lot of business leaders do. You’ll see in their headlines things like, ‘Father of 2 and husband’ rather than their professional title) they need to also have ‘boundaries’ or guidance on how to treat people and how they can expect to be treated at work. Often the business managers and leaders see the complainant as the problem, and you can’t go to them because they accept the bad behaviour, or they are behaving badly themselves. All you can do is keep moving.
