A male barrister has monitored, lied about and effectively stalked a woman barrister for about 2 years, even though she moved from his chambers some time ago. A few other male barristers encourage him. It’s sick. She should tell the police. The barristers have intimidated her within the meaning of section 7(1)(a) of the Crimes (Domestic and Personal Violence) Act 2007 (NSW), which can constitute an offence under section 13(1). They intended their conduct to cause fear in her within the meaning of sections 13(1) and 13(3). That’s why they did it. Even their attempts at doing this would be covered by section 13(5). Watching a person’s place of business or work is even covered by section 8(1)(b). The legislation is designed to cover coercive control, including at work.
