I’m currently facing a deeply troubling situation at my job. I’ve been singled out, intimidated, and retaliated against by both management and HR – an experience that has also involved discrimination. It all started when I questioned a potential misconduct: our team was told a colleague held the same official role and job description as the rest of us, but her actual duties and title weren’t transparent or formally announced. When I brought up this discrepancy, I was unfairly blamed for allegedly driving that colleague to consider resignation, and I was threatened with a complaint that turned out not to exist.
The bullying and retaliation have persisted. HR has taken steps that effectively shield the manager who threatened my job and displayed prejudice – going so far as to promote them. The only resolution HR offered was a mediation framed as a conflict between employees rather than an investigation into management’s actions. During mediation, the mediator targeted me with negative remarks about my nationality as an American, and he later acknowledged these comments in writing. It was even confirmed that my initial questions were warranted, as the colleague admitted to having an unofficial position. In the new year, after I returned from vacation, my manager further retaliated by trying to undermine and discredit me, yet HR took no action.
My health has deteriorated significantly since this began in the fall of 2024. Instead of acknowledging the severity of the stress, HR recently questioned the legitimacy of my medical issues and suggested I might simply be “not a fit” for the company. My confidence is shattered, and I’m not the only employee facing this situation.
I’m afraid to speak out because the company is a major global diagnostics organization based in Rotkreuz, Switzerland but they are worldwide, yet I feel compelled to share my story on your platform to bring attention to what has been happening—and to seek support. No employee should be subjected to this treatment and harm.
