Principals who didn’t want to teach and senior associates who were condescending towards junior lawyers. They treated these juniors as their assistants, doing everything from generating invoices to getting them coffee, despite having their own PA’s. These seniors would handball their work to these juniors and write off their time recorded for the work done, transferred to the seniors to meet their budgets and ultimately, increased salaries. The principals and office managers/HR refused to deal with the issues at work and played favourites, showing that its not what you know, but who. These favourites loved pleasing the principals who gave them frequent bonuses and pay rises. This list were just a few of the problems, perhaps family businesses run this way. Never returned to private practice again. Stayed longer than I should have all at the expense of my mental health.
