Was employed as Assistant Store Manager and performed the duties of the role, for two years I was paid as a Casual Console Operator and required to work full time hours. When I eventually pushed back against this though upper management I was changed to a full time employee on the correct pay rate. Soon after the Store Manager decided to commence bullying me, it became so overt that a colleague quit in protest of behaviour witnessed. I eventually reported the bullying to HR, long story short, I was not bullied, the Store Manager resigned for other personal reasons, and I was now expected to complete both the duties she was no longer there to do, as well as my own existing full time job with no change of pay, told their is no higher pay grade available and there’s no chance of the site employing a new manager in the future. Unfortunately I did not take this opportunity to quit because of the mental toll both the bullying and the extensive and fruitless investigation had taken on me, I was uncertain of my ability to apply for and perform in alternative employment. I worked myself to the bone doing daily overtime (I was on a salary) and was soon performance managed on on frivolous security reasons in my performance of duties and was dismissed after the due three warnings, witness/support person welcome meetings. I was left shattered and did not complete more than casual, seasonal or exploitive ABN blue collar work for the next ten years as I tried to (and eventually succeeded in) rebuilding my shattered self esteem, confidence and mental health, without assistance from a doctor, therapist, psychologist or psychiatrist.
